Anne is a reoccurring character in Hooky. Introduced as a minor character, being one of the ladies-in-waiting of Princess Monica[1], alongside Ivy, her best friend. She later becomes a member of the supporting cast starting in episode 72.

Appearance[]

Anne is a teenage girl with fair skin, slender build, and is taller than most of her peers. She has longish, light brown hair with split bangs, and her hair is always tied up in a bow. She also has dark brown eyes. Her clothing is typically in some shade of green, either a pastel or olive color. Her hair bow is typically green as well. In her early appearances she was seen wearing large dresses suit for a lady of nobility, though later on she is seen wear more casual clothing, such as pants.

While on the run with Dani and Dorian, she disguises herself as a witch by wearing all black, casual clothing.

After the time skip, Anne looks largely stay the same, though she grows taller, and her face is more sculpted.

Personality[]

Anne is a sweet girl, not putting up much of a fight for anything. She goes along with what is said and is seen to be an opposite of Ivy, who is much more open about her feelings. Anne is quite emotional, and is affected by the emotions of those around her. When Monica is upset about William's disappearance, she likely is upset and worries about her. She is somewhat ditsy, as she only answers one questions correctly-her name - when under Dorian's tutelage. When Amir tricks her into making candies for him, she doesn't realize it. She also blatantly told Dorian when she met him that she assumed all witches were ugly. She is also very loyal to her friends, and would do whatever she can to help them (unless it involves choosing to go on a grand adventure).

History[]

Not much is known about Anne’s past prior to the story. She presumably belongs to a noble family of sorts, most likely from Monica’s or William’s kingdoms, though it is never said that she is directly related to any of them like Ivy is. She more than likely met Monica, William, Ivy, Amir, and Aisha at a young age. She was likely appointed as Monica’ lady-in-waiting by the King, possibly at Monica’s request, a couple of years before the story begins. She likely has a permanent residence in Monica's Castle.

Story[]

Anne’s first appearance is in Episode 10, when she is seen attempting to comfort Monica after Prince William was kidnapped, alongside Ivy. She offers suggestions on how to cheer Princess Monica up, such as going shopping, finding a new fiancé, or going to a party. After Monica declares she will go off to find Will, Anne and Ivy leaves, not wanting to take part, though offering their luck.

Anne isn’t seen again until Episode 59, during the ball at Monica's Castle. She and Ivy are seen flirting with Mark, and asking if he would like to dance with them. After Dani points out that Mark’s dancing partner is Monica, the girls run and embrace her. Anne is seen having a good time at the ball with the group, when Dorian asks her if she’d like to dance, she accepts excitedly.

When the witch army attacks the palace, Anne is put in danger when part of the balcony collapses beneath her, and she is left clinging to Ivy for safety. Monica ends up saving her with her broom flying, and Anne hugs hers, grateful and impressed with her flying skills. Anne hides along with Ivy, Amir, Monica and Dorian, and watches in horror as Damien transforms the king into a toad, crowning himself King of the Witches. As they run and hide on a balcony, Damien eventually finds them and she begs him to spare them. After Damien hides them from the witch army, she rides on a gigantic Carlo away from the castle, in search for Dani, Nico, and Mark. They regroup with their friends, but realize the depth of the situation, becoming wanted criminals by Damien’s army and having to flee from the kingdom.

Months pass, with Anne living in hiding with Monica, Ivy, Amir, Dani, Dorian, Nico, Mark, Barry, and Noah at Mark's cabin. She is seemingly making the most of it, being forced to take Dorian's witchcraft lessons (doing poorly), spending her time hanging out with Ivy, continuing their duty of caring for Monica. Eventually, when Nico discovers that Will is being held captive somewhere in Amir’s kingdom through his clairvoyance, she joins the group (minus Barry and Noah) to go out to save him.

Anne is tasked with helping drive the group to Amir’s kingdom disguised as witches. When they reach a guard post, Damien and Monica cause the van to fly in order to escape. This leads to the van falling and crashing, and while Anne and the others are okay, Monica was separated from them. Anne initially fears the worst.

Skills and Abilities[]

Anne is a non-magical human, and is not shown preforming any magic during the series. When taking lessons from Dorian on witchcraft while on the run, she did not do well at all, though she did attempt. As a lady-in-waiting, she was likely taught how to be proper, and how to assist Monica with her day-to-day needs, such as with her clothing and hair, as well as emotional support.

Driving[]

Mark is shown teaching Anne how to drive one of the vans in Episode 77, and then drives the group to Amir and Aisha’s Kingdom. She seemingly did a good job, until Dorian enchanted the van to fly, causing it to fall and crash.

Cooking[]

Anne, along with Ivy and Monica, cooked chocolates for the other boys while they were kids. As it seems she did this without the assistance of any adults, it can assume she has some cooking skills.

Relationships[]

Main Characters[]

  • Monica: Anne is one of Monica’s best friends from childhood, as well as her lady in waiting. Anne is a loyal friend to Monica, and does what she can to support her. When William was kidnapped, she did what she could to comfort her, though she did not want to join Monica on her quest to rescue him. When Monica is being sent to William's kingdom following her mother and father's death, Anne joins her - knowing she'll need a friend during her lowest point.
  • Daniela Wytte: The two aren’t exactly very close, but they do respect and care for each other. When Dani lost her memories, she went to help the group regain them. During the ceremony where Dani abdicates as Queen, Anne is there to support her.
  • Dorian Wytte: The two aren’t exactly very close, but they do respect and care for each other. When Dorian offered her a dance at the ball, she seemed smitten and had fun spending time with him.
  • Damien Wytte: The two have known each other since childhood, and despite him not being of nobility, the two seem to be on friendly terms. It is not known if Anne knew Damien was a witch prior to the events at the ball, but if she did, she never showed any prejudice towards him. When Damien becomes King of the Witches she is in shock, and begs for his mercy when he finds the group escaping his army.
  • William: A childhood friend of Anne, they are presumably quite close and friendly to each other. She trusts William and was fully supportive of his marriage with Monica.

Supporting Characters[]

  • Ivy: Anne's best friend and fellow lady-in-waiting. Anne acts as a foil to Ivy as Anne is quite understanding and sweet, while Ivy is more open about voicing her opinion. Despite this, they are the best of friends and are rarely seen apart. Ivy attempts to save Anne during the attack at the ball, proving their loyalty to each other. When the two are separated following the king's death, they promise they'll see each other again.
  • Amir: A childhood friend of Anne, she seems to be quite close with Amir, though unlike Ivy's, it seems to be platonic rather than romantic. She most likely cares for Amir like she does with her friends, though occasionally gets annoyed with his laziness.

Trivia[]

  • Her biggest fear is heights.
  • She and Ivy have the same hair color.

Quotes[]

  • "You'll look lovely! Won't she, Ivy?"
  • "I'm about to die, could you be a little nicer!" Episode 66
